Our five-acre property is 10 minutes north of Fort Bragg, off of Highway 1, and a mile from the beach — just far enough to escape the marine layer and get a good amount of sunshine.
The house is surrounded by redwoods, rolling meadows, and flowering rhododendrons. It has two very large bedrooms (about 600 square feet each), a massive living room and huge dine-in kitchen with vaulted ceilings, and a wraparound porch.
Two attached atriums provide light, warmth and usable space during the winter. This is an unusually spacious two-bedroom. The house also has a shared hot tub (with the neighboring house, a vacation rental), and a laundry room. It is so quiet that you can often hear the ocean across the dunes.
There is a new, energy-efficient heat pump system (installed 2023) and a cast-iron fireplace in the living room. The land is beautiful, peaceful and safe. For recreational bike riding, there is a great trail nearby. The sand dunes are directly across the highway and there are multiple beaches within a short drive. Nature lovers will be particularly at home here. There are herons, deer, black bear, fox, turkeys, raccoons, coyotes and so many mushrooms in the rainy season.
The ideal sublet would be three to four months (March 1 to July 1). But there's some flexibility for the right medium-term renters. This is a good opportunity for people looking to move to the coast to give the area a try while house-hunting, a remote worker wanting to escape the city, or a visiting nurse or student.
