Hello! I’m a mature, easygoing woman with non-apparent disabilities (otherwise fit) seeking a live-in IHSS aide.
This is a paid IHSS role plus a free private room in my home on Ukiah’s West Side. It’s a great setup if you want to save money on housing while you work, attend school, or build up savings. IHSS (In-Home Supportive Services aide pay is paid by Medi-cal/Medicaid and administered by Mendocino County. I am the employer, they approve my services and do the payroll).
Compensation
IHSS wage: $19.71/hour (Mendocino County rate as of January 1, 2026)
Free private bedroom (live-in)
WiFi included. Utilities included with conservative use
Hours & schedule: Up to 33 hours/week maximum: If you need fewer hours, I may also hire a second helper (non-live-in). The schedule can be flexible around school/another job, but once we agree on it, it must be reliable and consistent so I can plan
IHSS requirements: Must already be IHSS-certified OR willing to become certified
Certification typically takes 2 weeks to 1 month and includes: application, background check clearance, fingerprinting, and brief online training. No cost to you for any certification steps. After certification, I will train you directly so expectations are clear
Union opportunity may be available through IHSS (optional)
What you’d help with (during working hours): Keeping shared spaces tidy (Cleaning, dishes, laundry routines). Cooking nutritious meals, home organizing and helping with related task I cannot do. Tracking shopping lists / basic errands planning; ability to lift 40 to 50 pounds.
Good time management; ability to notice/anticipate needs while on shift
Clear communication in English
Strong preferences: Driver’s license and car strongly preferred (I will still consider an excellent fit without a car)
Home & lifestyle requirements (important)
No smoking, no drugs, no heavy drinking
Low-impact lifestyle and few guests (occasional guest is okay)
Scent-free requirement: must avoid scented products (perfume/cologne, scented laundry detergent, air fresheners, etc.)
Food is not included (you manage your own meals and separate shopping)
Vegetarian preferred (not a deal breaker)
This is a neat, organized home. I’m looking for someone who naturally keeps shared spaces clean and organized. If you tend to be messy, it won’t be a good match.
Helpful skills (please share yours)
Cleaning, cooking, organizing, attention to detail
Efficient and dependable
IHSS experience preferred (not required)
Plus: vegetarian/vegan cooking or nutrition interest
Plus: If you have an interest in gardening or photography (I have professional skills and can teach, if you’d like)
References & background: Please be able to provide excellent work and personal references
Must be able to pass required background checks
Longer-term relationship is ideal: I’m hoping for a longer-term arrangement, starting with an initial trial period to make sure it’s a good fit for both of us.
